The Circus Tavern is one of the smallest pubs in Manchester and has the smallest bar which is filled by two handpumps. The building dates back to 1790 when it was a butchers, but only became a pub in the 1840s. The bar is in a narrow panneled corridor with two small rooms off to one side. The bar is situated under the stairs and only has enough room for one person at a time. The front door is often closed, especially when busy, so it is always worth knocking. | |||
